Often referred to as an olive oil jar, but are actually an amphora, which is a type of container of a specific shape and dimension, beginning in the Neolithic Period, which ran from approximately 9000BC to 3500BC. Generally, Amphora jars were used to transport olive oil and wine. Today, we find that interior designers use the amphora jars as a sculpture and they are equally at home placed inside the house or in the garden.
