For your consideration…A Tea Set for for a Queen made of English *…
A good antique silver plated tea set.
Late c19th / early c20th.
Stamped to the base, ‘T W & Co’, for Birmingham maker, Thomas Wilkinson.
Classical Georgian Style Fluted body curved handle and rolled over rim…
Neoclassical in taste which can suit any reason or room decor
The Pot is Gorgeous with curved handle and an exquisite finial
Good weighty plate.Sterling with copper beneath.
Comprising a generous tea pot, an equally generous sugar pot, and a milk jug.
Good overall condition. A little staining within, most notably in the tea pot, but all cosmetic and remediable with minimal effort. Importantly, the silver plate externally is near perfect.
Tea pot measures just shy of 12 inches long, six inches tall and five inches wide.
Engraved with a touching dedication to the original recipient,
‘Lily Lambrook,
On the occasion of her Marriage,
from a few special customers during the Great War
August 1919′
A perfectly useable set, imbued with a sense of history.
….*part of the reason English Silverplate endures and is sought of after always isn’t just the neoclassical styling, which is gorgeous but the plating itself. Sterling Silver is fused with Copper not alloys or base metal, and this hold the fuse forever or close to and gives a long time between polishing and a hearty weight which is why we always have a good olde tea set made of English Silverplate on hand
